The works in this exhibition extend beyond these women artists to the spaces and objects around them-the things that bear witness to their lives, and which are anything but still. Capturing the delightful and the atmospheric found in the fleeting moment of the everyday, A Room of One’s Own - Women in Still Life creates an opportunity to question the relationship between genre, gender, value and work. ‘An exhibition of strength and vitality, honouring the tradition of women working in Still Life, with an extraordinary group of highly collectable artist's working within the genre today. It is an honour to have been asked to participate in the Bett Gallery’s current group show entitled “A Room of One’s Own: Women in Still Life”. These exhibitions delve into critical themes, allowing artists to use their craft as a powerful medium for reflection and advocacy. Additionally, the invitation to showcase my work in Maunsell Wickes’ “Endangered II” exhibition and the Botanic Garden Friends and Foundations “On the Edge” and “Botanica de Materia Medica” exhibitions have also been a source of pride. To be featured alongside talented artists all exploring the complexities of still life from a female perspective is both humbling and invigorating. Another highlight this year has been the honour of participating in the Bett Gallery’s prestigious exhibition “A Room of One’s Own - Women in Still Life”. It was an absolute delight to exhibit in this new exhibition space within the Gardens…a gem of a venue and perfect for this body of work. Thank you to all that dropped into my Solo Exhibition “Enchanted Forest” held at the Victoria Lodge in the Royal Botanic Garden of Sydney. Later in the year, I will again be exhibiting new work at the Maunsell Wickes Gallery in Paddington. In other news, as the winner of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Female Photographers for the Still Life Category in 2023, I am thrilled to be exhibiting a selection of my “Birds in Bloom” series in Barcelona next month. The tapestries have a 3 inch Rod Pocket sewn into the top, allowing for a tapestry rod for hanging. Each tapestry is carefully hand-finished, with a clean, hemmed edge. Each piece measures 100 cm x 130 cm and is 100% cotton, ready to hang. Below are four new creations, with several more in progress. Instead of producing my work on traditional ink and paper, these photographic artworks are transformed into intricate woven pieces, each thread a testament to the rich tapestry of nature’s wonders.Īs we welcome the first day of autumn, I invite you to explore the mesmerizing world of my Bush Tapestries. Collaborating with a skilled Jacquard weaver in the heart of New York City, these tapestries are born from the fusion of art and technology. These are a celebration of Australian flora and fauna, captured through my lens and translated into stunning Jacquard tapestries.
